as promised by everyone who’s anyone, from de gaulle to churchill, you will never understand france til you luxuriate in the infinite soulful pairings of all those tiny local fromagers et vignerons. and even if you thought to embark on that journey, your passport will need renewing long before you’ve scratched the surface. which is why you must take this tour. ideally multiple times…to learn the seasonal variations in cheese which add even more layers to those pairings. and most definitely you must take it with nicholas, a humble poet-professor of wine & cheese who’s 100% “in real life”. you will never forget his dry humour, how generously he shares his deep knowledge as a chef, a sommelier & lover of cheese, wine & books, who shares his wisdom lightly with a smile & a quiet joy of explaining & clarifying. our conversation ranged from from the matter in hand (literally in those extraordinary pairings) to flashes of his life well tasted, to his love for paris on every level & especially île saint-louis, to the sheer goût of flavours & pairings so ethereal as to deserve silent appreciation initially. to a cheese tour that extends to his favourite gourmet used book store, the best local baguette, and his reaction to notre dame’s restoration so far… to meet nicholas is to experience a feeling for paris & for france you will take home with you.

I truly recommend this tour and their shop for anyone who loves french cheese.

Our host was Guillaume, he was very welcomy, and not only does he love cheese, he is very passionate about cheese and knows a lot. It isn’t just a tour where you get to taste cheese and some wine but you get to also learn a LOT about cheese.

Really, it was worth the penny and we were very delighted with the cheese we tried and the tour overall.

Bonus: the location is 2 minutes from the metro.

Fantastic, worthwhile experience in Paris. We walked to the quaint shop from our hotel in Marais. Our teacher, Agath, was so engaging and fun. This was an activity we would recommend to adult couples traveling together 100%. We also learned this company will be opening a cheese museum and new shop near Notre Dame in summer 2024. We look forward to visiting again in the new location.
